Torch Literary Arts promotes creative writing by BIPOC writers

This month Torchy Literary Arts is taking things up a notch in honor of Women’s History Month. Executive Director Amanda Johnston and Communications Associate Brittany Heckard joined We Are Austin in studio with a rundown of the amazing events they have lined up for March.

Torch Literary Arts is a nonprofit established to publish and promote creative writing by Black women.

“We support Black women writers with love and intention, and we extend that support to our entire literary community by offering incredible readings and programs. We publish a free, online digital magazine that publishes poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction and script,” Johnston said.

On Monday, March 3 the Torch Writing Circle will provide dedicated writing time for adult BIPOC women writers. The virtual event starts at 7 p.m. For more information, click here.

Torch Literary Arts is also launching a new series called Table Talk plus offering an exciting opportunity for playwriters. Watch the video to learn more!
