Organizers of the 2024 Pasadena Festival of Women Authors Announce New Venue Due to Labor Dispute – Pasadena Now

Organizers of the 2024 Pasadena Festival of Women Authors announced Thursday that the event will be moving to a new location due to an ongoing labor dispute at the originally scheduled venue.

The festival, scheduled for Saturday, March 9, will now be held at the Sheraton Grand Los Angeles at 711 South Hope Street in downtown Los Angeles. The event was previously set to take place at the Pasadena Hilton, but organizers said they decided to relocate “to ensure the comfort level of our authors, patrons, and other guests.”

A statement from the festival’s organizers explained that they are not taking a stance on the labor negotiations “but had to consider the impacts of a possible strike or picketers outside the hotel on the day of the Festival.”

The annual Pasadena Festival of Women Authors celebrates accomplished female writers and their literary works. This year’s festival will feature seven award-winning authors: Cathleen Schine, Tania James, Helen Elaine Lee, Fiona McFarlane, Parini Shroff, Thao Thai, and Keziah Weir.

The authors will speak about their experiences and insights about women in literature during the day-long event hosted by the Pasadena Literary Alliance. The schedule includes breakout discussion groups, book sales and signings.

The festival will now take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 9 at the Sheraton Grand Los Angeles. Tickets and event details are available here.
